I can’t sleep at night, last night was no exception. But last night in the dark, I found treasure.

Like most night’s I sleep only for a couple hours at a time. Most day’s I’m in constant pain and last night it kept me from getting comfortable enough to sleep. Bla, bla, bla, everyone has problems.

Last night though, it turned out to be very prosperous. Usually when I share a article I post excerpt from it to give you a idea of what’s in it in hopes of getting you to read it.

This time though I’ll just give you the link. Be forewarned though the title is very misleading. When I first saw it I thought Oh great, another celebrity is going to share their infinite wisdom and school us./s Honestly, I didn’t know who she was. Like most conservative I don’t pay much attention to Celeb’s and only know of a few of the big name ones obviously.

Again, don’t let the title fool. Take the time and check it out. Well, maybe I’ll share a bit of the article after all.

“Chrissy Teigen struck a nerve when she tweeted on Monday that she is “not good with” the Bible.

Teigen, a supermodel, is married to singer John Legend, who will portray Jesus Christ in NBC’s forthcoming live rendition of “Jesus Christ Superstar” that airs Sunday. Just before visiting her husband on set, she took to Twitter,” Chrissy Teigen says she’s ‘not good with the Bible’ — Neither am I

Wasn’t that good, simple and just on time? Admittedly I have never come across the author before so I followed the him on twitter and checked out his website and added it to my favorites. While there I came across this gem.

Excerpts from the article, “The prophets are illuminating, yes. But immediately applicable? Not always . . . unless we broaden our view of application and consider the story behind the symbols.

Pressing On in the Dark

In that simple picture of a shoot coming out of a stump, I find hope to press on through dark times. It’s not applicational in that it gives me a task I need to do this week. But it applies to me because it reorients my thinking so that I see myself as part of a bigger story that God is writing, a story of his glory and my good.

Perhaps as you read this, you’re at such a low point that my words carry no hope at all. There’s no return, you say. Maybe you’re in the depths, or facing the end of your life, and you think: This is it. There’s just a stump. No shoot.” Deep Darkness Before Dawn

For me this was just all on time, at the right time, as God always is.

As always God bless America and you.

Immigration: American charity, progressivism, the church, you and me.

America, “We The People” Christians, none Christians, the average American citizen. America, her people as a whole are the most generous, compassionate people in the world, second to none.

From NPR  December 20, 2011 Survey: U.S. Takes Top Spot As Most Charitable Nation

From a old CNN post. “Canadian radio commentator Gordon Sinclair said in the 1970s, at the height of American criticism abroad, that the United States is the “most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the Earth.” We are still the most generous people in the world today.”

“Often the benefactors of American generosity capture it best. “There is a reason the world always looks to America,” Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard said in an address to Congress this year. “Your city on a hill cannot be hidden. Your brave and free people have made you the masters of recovery and reinvention.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a separate address to Congress this year, echoed the sentiments, “Providence entrusted the United States to be the guardian of liberty. All people who cherish freedom owe a profound debt of gratitude to your great nation.”

“The critics of the American capitalist system are many, but when disaster strikes, the world still turns to America. One thinks most recently of Japan and Haiti. Not only did the United States send hundreds of millions of dollars in aid, but it also sent troops, food, water and medical supplies. We remember the moving picture of “Thank you USA” etched in the mud next to a rescue helicopter landing circle in Japan.” Read more on America the generous By William J. That being said, we don’t need the government telling us how and who to give to via taxes, laws or any other means this progressive administration decides to dictate.

Make no mistake, the border situation inflames me. I think almost more then the all the other scandals that Obama and his administration has produced. Like I’m sure most every one I feel bad for the kids. But at first not really. The border needs to be secured and illegal immigration stopped period. Stop them at the border and send them back. Feed them yes, give them medical attention yes. Then load them on the buses and plane this administration is using to dump in unsuspected ill prepared communities.

They are not political pawns, future democrat or republican( if only the message was right) voters. They are illegal aliens that have broken our laws period.

Moving on. I could go on and on about Immigration. It’s kind of a pet peeve of mine I guess and I wrote on the subject more then once on my other blog. I think most of it was successfully transferred over to this blog.

I was feeling down for a couple days, no need for details I think. At my wits end, going through everything in my mind. Arguing with and questioning GOD. I screamed what’s missing. What’s wrong with me, like so many times before, I give up, I can’t do this anymore. Actually I think I’ve only seriously done that three times in my Christian life two times in the past two years where I actually felt I was giving up. Knowing my salvation doesn’t depend on anything I do. Still, somethings not right and of course as Christians should know that is where GOD has you, lead you, want’s you. That’s where HE has our attention where we should be, nothing left, just dependence on HIM. No more me. No more me doing it in my own strength. I try to walk walk humbly in my own home more so now days and try to live the Christian life, the LORD knows. We both know I like all others, Christians especially are not perfect and are a work in progress and for the Christian we will not be made whole till we are with HIM or HE comes to take us home, which ever comes first.

Anyways. The next day that was yesterday. I opened my devotional, so right on time as usual I read this.Loving your neighbor”

“I wonder how many Christians reading these pages have ever held political office, even as a precinct committeeman. If Christians leave opportunities for participation open and unfilled, the void will be filled by those who do not necessary share a similar ethical concern. We must be careful not to lose by default what could be won with some additional effort on our part…

The average American today suffers no twinge of conscience when he passes the sick man on the road. He knows he has paid the “Good Samaritan” to come along after him and take care of this rather unpleasant social obligation. But the import of CHRIST teaching is very plain. HE expects us to take the roll of the “Good Samaritan”, and not delegate our Christian love and compassion and concern in every instance to a paid professional or functionary. We are enjoined love our neighbor not just to pay our taxes to employ someone else to love our neighbor…

I believe a large part of the problem is the inability of the average member of an affluent suburban church to feel much real empathy for the problems of the inner-city world from his own experience. I am afraid that there is a great many modern Christians who, if our LORD suddenly returned and they found HIM dinning with the publican and sinners who infest the big city slums, would recoil with the same fastidious horror displayed by the Pharisees and Sadducees two thousand years ago…

The church of JESUS CHRIST ought to play a part in rallying Christians to social action. Indeed, it is only as we play this kind of roll that we will get the type of society that we as Christians would like to see. The church can and should encourage social and economic change.” Author: John B. Anderson

Wow. I have to say while I read and really thought about the part that said  “I am afraid that there is a great many modern Christians who, if our LORD suddenly returned and they found HIM dinning with the publican and sinners who infest the big city slums, would recoil with the same fastidious horror displayed by the Pharisees and Sadducees two thousand years” ago… Guilty as charged and the first paragraph struck home too. The whole reading really spoke to me as I’m sure it does to you to though may be not in the same way. The reading from the bible that goes along with this is great and just really spoke to me as I hope it does you to.

Now From Bible Gateway the accompanying passage for the devotional is Isaiah 58:612.  Isaiah 58:6-12New International Version (NIV)

6“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
7Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness[
a] will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
9Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.

If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
10and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.
11The Lord will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
12Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins
and will raise up the age-old foundations;
you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls,
Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”

Now you know you have to read Isiah 58 to get the context. Please take the time to check it out it’s not a long chapter and you’ll be glad you did. Let the LORD speak to you. Right where you are in life today.

Shout it aloud, do not hold back.
Raise your voice like a trumpet.
Declare to my people their rebellion
and to the descendants of Jacob their sins.
For day after day they seek me out;
they seem eager to know my ways,
as if they were a nation that does what is right
and has not forsaken the commands of its God.
They ask me for just decisions
and seem eager for God to come near them.
‘Why have we fasted,’ they say,
‘and you have not seen it?
Why have we humbled ourselves,
and you have not noticed?’

While I read this among the many thoughts I had and things I noticed I had to change in my life and get back to basics on. I remember reading a couple headlines about Glenn Beck doing something on the border. I just kind of glanced over them, in a hurry to get to other things.

I’ve learned when Beck’s in the headlines for something that is controversial the truth is usually missing or twisted in some way. You really have to research it, it doesn’t take much. The truth is never that far away. A lot of people especially the left don’t like him and where the left is there is usually misinformation or blatant lies. Unfortunately some conservatives don’t take the time and just jump on the band wagon. For sure the republican elite-establishment will do the same. Beck pulls no punches. When it comes to exposing truths he shows no bias and is a let the chips fall where they may kind of guy and speaks his mind.

Personally though I believe his religion is a false one so you do as a Christian have to be on your guard for red flags but not many can deny most Mormons are good moral, ethical people and active in there communities. One big exception comes to mind though and that would be Harry Reid.

Beck to Donate to Illegal Immigrant Children: ‘We’re on the Edge of Losing Our Country’

This a great article and hope you take the time to read it. The writer points out what a lot of Christian forget and the left misrepresents among other great points.

“True, the Mosaic Law says in several places we are to be kind to the “alien” or “sojourner” among us. But “sojourner” doesn’t mean “squatter,” or someone who just shows up on your property and after a while gets to claim it for themselves. It means someone who is “passing through.”

Furthermore, the same Mosaic Law that required showing kindness to the “alien” (or foreigner), also required that alien to conform to the commands and customs of the culture in order to stay. In this case that even meant leaving your very religion behind in order to assimilate, for there was only one God in Israel and His name was (is) Jehovah. You could come from a pagan land, but if you wanted to bring your pagan language and pagan religion with you, then you had to go. There wasn’t an “Edom-Town” or a “Little Philistia” in Israel.”

Beck said that “nobody has even come close to anything like this.”

Why?” he asked. “Because too few actually still believe in the America that we are fighting to keep alive, the decent Americans still fighting to be good. … I love this audience. I love my viewers. They are the best people I believe ever gathered together as an audience. They are a group of people that understand that America is not a place. America is a state of mind.”Read more on. Glenn Beck Reveals How Much His Audience Has Raised to Help Illegal Immigrant Children at the Border

I come to you today to report that the new number on money raised is $1.9 million,” Beck said on his radio program. “It’s astounding. $1.9 million.”

Beck said that once the amount surpasses $2 million, he wants to start raising money for the Border Patrol agents who are “going through hell,” and make sure that any rancher that is “deeply affected by what is going on on our border” is also taken care of.”Read more on. After Raising Nearly $2 Million for Illegal Immigrant Children, Beck Plans to Help This Group of People Next
